Stadt Unterschleißheim: Direct route to greater citizen-friendliness

The project

Every day, the switchboard of the town council of Unterschleißheim receives over 100 phone calls. Whether someone is available or in a meeting, on a phone call or someone else is available is clearly evident to the switchboard in a structured overview, the "Team panel". Callers can be passed on to a specific person. Unsuccessful attempts to connect people are a thing of the past. And a mouse click is all it takes to connect a call. 

This hasn't always been the case. Before the authority started using XPhone, it used an XML document in which absences had to be managed manually. This was an additional activity that many members of staff were often unable to provide. 

"It was clear to us that if we wanted to significantly increase availability, we needed a system that would require the minimum effort for our colleagues, and ideally none at all," explained IT system administrator Andrea Münz.
