XPhone Connect: Web-Meeting via browser

With its latest release, UC specialist C4B Com For Business significantly expands the collaboration capabilities of XPhone Connect. XPhone users can now also share their screen with external contacts. The advantage: access is simply via browser, without an additional plugin.

Munich, 25. March 2019. Collaboration is the buzzword of the day. Efficient cooperation across team and company boundaries is increasingly becoming a competitive factor for businesses. C4B Com For Business AG has now expanded its UC platform XPhone Connect with a key collaboration function: thanks to the new Web-Meeting, XPhone users can also share their screen with external contacts.

"When designing Web-Meeting, it was crucial for us to make it as uncomplicated and barrier-free as possible," explains C4B Product Manager Thomas Dirnberger. The background: with many collaboration tools, invited guests have to install a plugin or even their own client. Not only the time this takes is a problem. In many organisations, strict security policies mean employees have no admin privileges on their computers. If a plugin needs to be installed to use a collaboration tool, logging on is virtually impossible for these people.

100% barrier-free

With the XPhone Connect Web-Meeting, these barriers are eliminated: the guest simply participates in the meeting via their browser. After opening the invitation link, only the name and email address are required to attend the meeting. "Our vision of communication can be summed up in a simple formula: it has to be as intuitive and simple as possible," Dirnberger emphasises.

For the XPhone user this means: he doesn't have to worry about his guest's infrastructure. The user simply creates the scheduled meeting in his Outlook or Notes calendar. The link for the Web-Meeting is then automatically generated and sent to the guests.

Web-Meeting with Screen-Sharing, conference call & chat

In the Web-Meeting, guests not only see the host's screen. They can also interact via chat and dial into an audio conference. For the best possible overview, C4B provides the proven Active Speaker function: at any time, the name of the participant currently speaking is displayed.

Even though in the case of classic applications – e.g. a customer presentation – it's usually a matter of scheduled appointments, a Web-Meeting can of course also be initiated spontaneously: the user can start a new ad-hoc meeting in the XPhone client. This immediately generates a link for the Web-Meeting, which he can send to his guests via email.
