With XPhone, you only need one thing for the perfect match: the IM address of your contact person. As soon as you create a new contact with an IM address, a Federation request* is automatically sent to the contact. Your contact only has to confirm the request and you can start!
Federation requests that are sent to you can be found in the client under "Requests": If the contact is already known based on his IM address, he will be displayed directly with his name. When replying you can decide:

All requests you receive from external contacts are clearly summarised in the client next to your contacts. New requests are signalled with a badge, so that no contact is lost.
So that you can always keep an eye on which requests are still outstanding, even with many contact requests, these are sorted according to "open" and "processed contact requests". If necessary, you can change your permissions here – just like in the contact itself.
