Municipality of Wedemark: Better service for citizens

The project

Whether renewing an ID card, submitting a building application or changing a name after marriage, local councils must always be available to deal with their residents' issues and requirements. In order to be even more readily available to its residents, the municipality of Wedemark decided to update its communications infrastructure. 

The unified communications software XPhone was also commissioned in conjunction with a new telephone system. The council greatly improved availability and service with caller display and presence management.

For instance, if a member of staff is temporarily not at their desk, then calls are automatically forwarded to the switchboard, who can then use XPhone to issue a call notification to that person and request a callback. 

The integrated fax server also saves resources. 

Staff can send a document to the virtual fax printer from any application, and fax it directly from there.
